Client Training Seminars, Professional Seminars and Speeches

Our busy law practice still leaves some time for one of our favorite extracurricular activities: conducting client training seminars, speaking before bar association groups, labor and employment law groups and professional associations.

Many of the seminars in which we speak offer Continuing Legal Education credit for attorneys, as well as continuing education credits for other professionals, including accountants and personnel and human resource managers.  Often our clients ask us to help them in training their managers and supervisors (and occasionally non-supervisory employees) in regard to various labor and employment law issues.

Here are just a few of the labor and employment law topics we have addressed in recent training seminars and speeches:

• Sexual Harassment in the Workplace; Investigating, Preventing and Defending Sexual Harassment Claims.

• Avoiding Wrongful Discharge Claims; Defending Wrongful Discharge Claims.

• Union Avoidance; What Every Supervisor Needs to Know about Labor Unions.

• Effective Discipline & Discharge Policies and Practices.

• Personnel Policies and Practices that Work.

• Useful Personnel Forms and Effective Employment Policies.

• Ohio and Federal Minimum Wage and Overtime Laws.

• Americans with Disabilities Act and Family & Medical Leave Act Compliance.

• Conducting Meaningful Exit Interviews.

• Counseling "Difficult" Employees to Improve their Work Performance.

• Investigating Employees Suspected of Misconduct.

• Using Progressive, Corrective Discipline Policies to Address Workplace Problems.
